A special old Christmas book

My daughter has been buying books to have an assortment of Christmas books for her daughter.
She asked me about this book, that she remembers we had had when she was a little girl.
She wanted to buy their own copy but it is crazy-expensive now

I found our old copy and obviously it is not in mint condition
but it is still in great shape for all the reading it got and to be 28 or years old.

The First Christmas by Tomie dePaola

It really is a special book.
All the pages are pop-ups
and it has little things to pull and turn for more activity.

We won't be selling our copy, even for $900.
I've read it to the grands several times and I think I enjoyed it as much as they did and just like their parents-aunts and uncles did.

  1. That is very special! I love when the grands enjoy the books and toys my own kids did. Last week Greg read them "The Night Before Christmas" from the book that was his when he was a kid. I couldn't stop smiling while he was reading. :)

  3. That is a beautiful book! I have a lot of my kid's favorite books from when they were little. I am hoping that one day I will be blessed with a grandchild and that I can share my children's favorite books with him/her!

  7. That is an awesome book! We had it when we were kids, and I'm pretty sure my mom still has it - so the grandkids can enjoy it, too. It's a delightful rendition of the real story of Christmas.

  9. I love the old book, what a nice thing to pass down. It's so important to read to children, and especially to read them the true Christmas story about Jesus! Hope you had a wonderful Christmas and you'll be blessed in 2013!
